Year 2 Science trip to Paignton Zoo- Wednesday 20th May 2026

 

As part of our science learning, we have arranged a trip to Paignton Zoo to enrich our understanding of animals and the habitats they live in. Year 2 will be learning about rainforests through an educational workshop and an opportunity to explore the zoo seeing a wide variety of animals.

This trip will offer an extremely exciting and fun packed learning experience for each and every child. This trip will take place on Wednesday 20th May 2026 during school hours. In the event that the children will be late back to school, this will be communicated to parents/carers.

 

The cost of this trip will be £23.00 per child.  This will cover:

 

• Coach transfer to and from Paignton Zoo.
• Admission and access to Paignton Zoo.
• An expertly led Rainforest workshop by one of the zookeepers.
• Exploration around the zoo.

 

The deadline for payment is Wednesday 13^th May. It is essential that we receive contributions from all parents in order for the trip to go ahead as the school is not in a position to cover any shortfall. If you are struggling to meet the cost of this experience, then please do contact the school office, to discuss any ways in which we may be able to help.

Timings:

Arrival: On the day of the trip, pupils will arrive at school at normal time.

Return: We will arrive back at school in time for normal pick up at 3:20pm

 

Come prepared!

Please come to school wearing school uniform. Please also consider that coats may be required if it is raining and suncream/sunhats if it is sunny.  In addition, any travel sickness precautions will need to be taken in advance of arriving at school.

Food and drink.

Your child will require a packed lunch. If your child is currently in receipt of free school meals based on income criteria a packed lunch will be provided. An email will shortly be sent to you with the link to the packed lunch options survey. A large drinks bottle (or two smaller ones) in a suitable bag or rucksack will also be needed. They should be provided with enough water to last them the day.

Inhalers: If your child is on the school medical records as needing an inhaler then we must have the inhaler and asthma card in school with us in order for them to be taken on the trip.

Allergy medication: If your child is on the school medical records as having an allergy and they require medication and/or an epipen, then we must have the medication and epipen in school with us in order for them to be taken on the trip.

 

Medication: If pupils require any medication in the school day, then a medication form from the office must be filled in and medication handed in, in a labelled bag.

Please use the payments section of your Weduc app to make payment for the trip, and in the comments box please add an emergency contact telephone number for the day .

 

We can’t wait to embark on this adventure with the children and look forward to taking them on this school trip.
