Pentagon Pod

Welcome to Pentagon Pod!

Although small in number we are big in cheer, determination and heart! If you are reading this you have entered this temporary section of the website that will cover all home communication between now (15.06) and the end of the academic year. We aim to post on a daily basis. As with the Year 1 page, content will be a mixture of parental information, children's work and learning support documents. We hope you find this page useful and use it to celebrate all the hard work that is happening in school.

Week 6
Our pentagon pod sports day. They did amazingly and the teams drew. Well done everyone!
Week 5
We learnt about time and used a stop watch to estimate and time different activities.
We wrote a letter to Mrs Wynne to tell her about us.
We had a go at curling!
Week 4
We made stuck puppets to tell our Jack and the beanstalk stories.
We used the story we had learnt to write our own versions of Jack and the beanstalk.
Gymnastics fun!
Week 3
Just like the giant’s castle, we created our own coats of arms.
We found the money that Jack stole and learnt how much the coins were worth.
Some shoots have started to grow from our beans!
We were finally able to go and enjoy the woods! Even the rain managed to stay away!
Joe Wicks helped us get active in the rain...
We designed an 'eggmobile' to help Jack transport the golden eggs down the beanstalk safely. To test them, we dropped them from 2m high to see if the eggs broke.

Week 2
This week, we are focusing on the story Jack and the beanstalk...
We learnt some new vocabulary and some actions to remember it.
We learnt some of the story and drew a story map.
We’ve planted our own beans but are they magic?
In Maths, we have been practising partitioning numbers into tens and ones (and in some cases hundreds too!).
We made the most of the lovely sun by doing our PE outside today. We played a new game called animal kingdom and practised some maths with what’s the time Mr wolf?

We tried out Doodle Maths for the first time today which was great! You can practise at home too and the more stars you earn the more you can add to your robot.

You can download the app or go on the web version (see letter on main class page for more info). I’ve set up accounts for them so just login using:

username - the first letter of their first name and first 4 letters of surname eg I would be Sdobl

(except EF, you have your whole surname as it was already taken)

password - abc

I hope you enjoy it!

Wednesday at home...
To ensure all children are exposed to the same learning, we are teaching the same things that we set for home learning. To help us follow the sequence, it would really help to complete day 3 of home learning when you are at home on Wednesday. I will post it on this page to avoid confusion!

Watch the video and practise partitioning numbers

Practise our new rich vocabulary. Can you think of actions?

Week 1
This week, we have been focusing on the story Elmer.
We created our own Elmers using collaging to make his patterns.
We’ve enjoyed playing outside at lunchtime!
We’ve also thought about acts of kindness and how these can make people happy. We tried to make sure we have compliments to each other, wrote a thank you card to someone special and thought about what we are good at.
When it was raining, we had our own mini olympics in the hall!

Joining Joe Wicks for his PE lesson!

CALLING ALL PENTAGON PARENTS! Please can your child bring in a few of their favourite jokes on TUESDAY please. Many thanks.
