Give

So why is 'giving' so important to fostering good wellbeing and mental health?

Research suggests that acts of giving and kindness can help improve your mental wellbeing by:

  • creating positive feelings and a sense of reward.
  • giving you a feeling of purpose and self-worth.
  • helping you connect with other people.

It could be small acts of kindness towards other people, or larger ones like volunteering in your local community.

So, how can I begin to 'give of myself' to help others?

Some examples of the things you could try include:

  • Saying thank you to someone for something they have done for you.
  • Asking friends, family or colleagues how they are and really listening to their answer.
  • Spending time with friends or relatives who need support or company.
  • Offering to help someone you know with DIY or a work project.
  • Volunteering in your community, such as helping at a school, hospital or care home.

Can I help out in and around Honiton?

UNTIL NATIONAL COVID RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OFFERING YOUR SERVICES AS A VOLUNTEER.

Honiton has a large number of care homes and other organisations (including HPS!) that are always on the look out for volunteers to help them with their work. Volunteering is a great way to gain experience, make new friends, add to your CV whilst making a positive impact within your local community.
Giving @ HPS!
We have a long tradition of supporting numerous local, national and global charities and fundraising events. As well as having loads of fun on these special days, we also educate the children to the causes they are fighting for and how we can make difference in a small but positive way.
