In nursery we encourage children to make decisions about their learning and to follow their own interests. We provide  'provocations' which we know will support many areas of learning, and allow the children to use them in their own creative ways. So a simple provocation of porridge, salt, lolly sticks and lids today became birthday cakes, a challenge to fill lids using lolly sticks, a counting activity, a mark making and writing resource and 'baby's dinner (and lots more!) Brilliant fun and lots of learning!
