Year 4 - Lime Class - Our Computer Learning

Over the past week, Lime Class has been learning about how to use a variety of programs on the chromebooks.  First, they created a slides presentation about their trip to The Eden Project.  They had to insert text, insert images from the web, duplicate slides, change the background colour, include transitions, as well as crop and edit images.  Once their presentations were completed, they presented to the class!

After that, they have been learning how to input data onto GoogleSheets (Excel) to create a range of graphs to present data.  So far, they have created dual line graphs, combo graphs, pie charts.

Tomorrow sees them making a geo chart!

  • Year 4 Poo Making

    Wed 16 Jul 2025

Year 4 - Lime Class - We made poo!!

Today, Year 4 have been learning about the digestive system and what our bodies do to digest food.  To start, we made poo!  We used a plastic bag to represent the stomach with the food and orange juice (the stomach acid) inside and the children churned the food to break it down into molecules.  Next came pouring it into the small intestine (tights) where they squeezed all the nutrients out.  It was later taken by the large intestine (the cloth) which absorbed the remaining water before passing through the anus as faeces!!

There were mixed feelings about making it - some of excitement, some of intrigued and some of horror!  But all have loved being scientists this morning conducting a scientific enquiry!

Year 5’s Trip to the Eden Project

Last week, our Year 5 pupils embarked on an exciting educational adventure to the Eden Project in Cornwall. The highlight of the trip was a hands-on workshop called ‘Rainforest Uncovered’, where students became rainforest explorers for the day!

They were sent on a mission to investigate how people survive in the rainforest. Inside the Rainforest Biome, pupils explored the plants that could be used for health purposes, food, and shelter. They discovered how indigenous communities adapt to their surroundings and use natural resources in sustainable ways. From towering trees to tropical humidity, the experience brought their classroom learning about the Amazon Rainforest to life.

Well done, Year 5, for being such enthusiastic and thoughtful explorers!

  • Important Online Safety Message

    Thu 10 Jul 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,                                                Thursday 10th July 2025

Online Safety Message for parental attention: WhatsApp

We’ve been made aware of a WhatsApp group called “Add everybody you know” that is circulating inappropriate content, including explicit images, memes and videos. This group involves students from a number of schools in the local area. Whilst we hope they would not be, some children from our school or older siblings may be added or invited to join this group and hence this message. We are informed the police are aware of this and are investigating this group and those who are sharing this content.

There are many potential safeguarding risks associated with this WhatsApp group, including:

    • Unmoderated content being shared, which may be inappropriate or harmful.
    • Exposure of personal information of children and young people to unknown individuals.
    • Potential grooming or exploitation risks due to the open and indiscriminate nature of the group.

     We strongly advise that you:

    • If your child(ren) uses WhatsApp, check this today to ensure that they are not part of this group. If they are, remove them immediately.
    • Speak to your child(ren) about the importance of online safety and not joining unknown or unmoderated groups.

We also take this opportunity to remind parents that the minimum age for WhatsApp in the UK is 13 years old due to associated risks.

Thank you for your support in keeping all children safe online.
