Thirsty for Gold Thursday!
Together with our PTFA and ‘Sports for Champions’, we will be holding a sponsored event after
half term where the children will be completing a series of activities inspired by the current
Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy.
These ‘HPS winter sports’ will, as always, be suitable for every pupil, from Nursery to Year 6.
We will be completing this challenge on THURSDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2026, throughout the
school day, with each year group having a designated ‘Thirsty for Gold’ time slot and we are
hoping that the children will raise funds to improve and develop the curriculum resources
across the school.
We are delighted to welcome a top-class visiting athlete, Rebekha Green - a freestyle kayaker - from
‘Sports for Champions’ for an inspirational assembly where she will talk about her career,
achievements, training regimes and sacrifices made to reach the elite level of her sport.
On the day, all children will need to come to school in their Honiton Primary School PE
kits and suitable footwear. Where possible, this must include a pair of gloves too - this
is advisory due to the nature of some of the activities, but not compulsory.
The children will stay in their PE kits for the whole day.
Some of the activity challenges will be outside, so please consider the weather of the day and
send your child/ren in with a coat and warm layers if necessary.
A named drinks bottle will be essential too.
The sponsorship form attached will be sent home with your child. These can be completed for
each child, or one per family. We would be extremely grateful if you could obtain as many
sponsors as possible – every little helps as the saying goes - and it really does!
Please use your school Weduc account to give your consent for your child to take part in this
event. Without this, your child will not be able to take part in all the activities.
