Continuous Provision

We are often asked the question, ‘What is continuous provision and how does it work?’ In a nut shell, we carefully equip our learning environment so that it allows the children to explore the knowledge and skills that we have, and are teaching them in the absence of an adult. In this picture, we left number cards and stones for the children to explore. As I walked past, I saw this! A group of boys had been placing the stones onto the cards. This photo shows a developing understanding of number which informs our assessment and future planning. What can your children do independently? Set up some provision at home and find out!
