Sometimes, the most simple of activities support strong learning in early phonics and reading. ‘Cross the River’ is one such game that really inspires our children in Reception. It’s simple, the children read the word and see if the word can swim across the river without getting eaten. The sense of suspense, willingness and engagement is really high when this game comes out.
