Egyptian Day Celebrations in Year 5
We had a super day in Year 5 yesterday, celebrating our learning about Ancient Egypt this term. An Egyptian dancing workshop was our first session, where the children re-enacted building a pyramid in small groups. This was followed by preparing our Egyptian collars for decorating, painting them a glorious yellow. The highlight of the day for many was mummifying tomatoes, using natron as a preservative. After lunch, we modelled clay Shabti Servants, which were placed in the tomb with the pharaohs to help them in the afterlife. To finish our creative afternoon, we enjoyed designing patterns for the collars and recreating them using coloured papers and adhesive gapes. Here are some wonderful photos from our day. Thank you for supporting the children with their costumes. They looked splendid.
