One of the best things about working with young children is the honour to be invited into their imaginative play! Today we were blessed with the fairie's bath and kitchen! The girls used the water drum as the fairie's bath and then evolved the story into the fairie's kitchen in the new camp area! Our job, as practitioners, is to sprinkle this game with rich language, new vocabulary and meaningful conversation. Throw in some counting, capacity, understanding the world and teamwork and you have a very powerful, short passage of learning through child-initiated play. We feel privilaged to be invited into these worlds that the children create. Best job in the world!
