This afternoon, year 6 made their very own stethoscopes to listen to their heart beats. Did you know that the stethoscope was initially created to create distance between patients and doctors? Hygiene wasn't great in the 1800s and doctors were fed-up of putting their ears against dirty, lice-infested bodies! Gross! Thank goodness for René Laennec and his creation!
