Year 2- Researching Strong Shapes

We have been continuing in our research stage of our Design and Technology lessons in looking at building a strong and stable tower. In this lesson, we learnt about how triangles are a stronger shape than rectangles when using them for buildings. As the wind hits the side of a building, a rectangle will move in the wind and deform, whereas a triangle shape is much more stable. We explored this with card and split pins after watching the structural engineer, Roma Agrawal (famous for making the Shard in London).
