Year 2 - Who lives in a microhabitat like this?

In good ol’ Lloyd Grosman’s, ‘Through the Keyhole’ style, Year 2 have been exploring and identifying micro habitats in our school woods. Today, we focused on the microhabitat of under a log and discussed the conditions we found and which minibeasts we thought lived there. It was great that we were then able to go and search and found out our predictions were correct!

We learnt that woodlice, earwigs, worms and slugs quite like dark, damp hidden places and that was their chosen habitat.

Alongside that activity with the teachers, we also went on a plant identification search by matching pictures to places in the woods and learning the names of different plants.
