Year 4 - How does a British Hindu worship?

This afternoon, as part of our RE learning, we looked at how British Hindu’s may worship within the home. We learnt that this was called ‘Puja’ and that they usually have their own shrines in their houses that they can pray to.

We we discussed the significance and symbolism of each part present in the shrine and why that was important.  They really enjoyed the incense and how that (with the flowers) represented the beauty and fragrant world that has been created.  After visiting, the children went away and drew their own shrines and labelled the different parts present.

There was great enthusiasm and a clear love of learning about different cultures and beliefs.  Have a look at what we got up to.
