  • Year 5 - Willow Class - Summarising a Text

    Mon 30 Oct 2023 E. Long

Last week, Willow Class has been exploring a non-fiction text in our guided reading lessons. In one of our lessons, the children worked together in groups to decide what the key information was in an article and then summarise it for the rest of the class. There was some great talk for learning happening and collaboration as well.

  • Year 5 - What is Peer Pressure?

    Mon 30 Oct 2023 E. Long

Last week, Year 5 came together for an assembly to discuss what peer pressure was and what they should do if they ever found themselves in a situation they felt uncomfortable in. Now that they are getting older and more independent, it is important that they know how to handle these situations that they may face.

The children were very receptive and knew the importance of right and wrong and understood that they will all face these at some point in their lives, but how they need to keep to their own moral compass and do what they know to be right.

  • Year 5 - Making a toy using a Cam mechanism

    Mon 30 Oct 2023 E. Long

Before half term, Year 5 began the task of making and building their cam toys. They used their designs and thought about their intended audience and worked collaboratively to embark on the challenge of the build. There was great problem solving, communication and independence in building their toys.

Keep an eye out for the end results!

  • Year 6 Woods - Den Building!

    Tue 17 Oct 2023 E. Long

Last week, Year 6 went down to the woods with Mr Watson and tackled a den building challenge. This task required each group to build a den using a set of resources along with anything else that they could find in the natural environment around them. We saw some brilliant collaboration and some amazing den structures. However, some were better than others when it came to testing their ability to keep everyone inside dry..!

What a great morning and a deserved treat after a week of working hard on our big writes!
