  • Making us proud!

    Tue 28 Jan 2020 Year 6

This evening, our year 6 team headed off to the finals of the Youth Speaks competition. The three children you see here have worked incredibly hard for the last couple of months perfecting their speeches with each member of the team giving up many lunch breaks to nail their role.
Although we didn’t manage to progress to the next round, the children executed their task tonight with so much conviction and passion. We could not have been prouder of the fantastic way they represented our school.

You were all AMAZING and we know that you were robbed of that victory!

  • Year 4 - RE, What is important to me?

Tue 28 Jan 2020 Miss McManus

Today we explored what things make us unique.  We looked at things that were important to us and discussed how this could be objects that represented something, be it a person, a memory or a feeling! We also looked at how our hobbies are what make us us too!

We we started looking at some things that made Miss McManus her and then we got to draw our own.  There was some lovely sharing and talking about what was important to them which led to a lovely atmosphere.

  • Nursery...more Incy Wincy spider ...

    Tue 28 Jan 2020
The children developed their fine motor control by covering the spider lines with buttons. Whilst doing so they chatted with Mrs Gocher about the colour, size and shape of the buttons. Great concentration from the children!
  • Nursery - Incy Wincy Spider and spouts...

    Tue 28 Jan 2020
Our rhyme this week is Incy Wincy Spider and yesterday we explored what a spout was. We used our new water wall to explore water pouring down spouts, and inside we tried to aim our cars down the spout (guttering) to see if they would go in the bucket. Great fun linked to our literacy learning.
  • Nursery - Woods today...

    Tue 28 Jan 2020
We are hoping to go to the woods today (weather allowing) so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately with warm clothes. Many thanks, Mrs Rose.
  • Reception- wet play!

    Mon 27 Jan 2020 Reception
Reception enjoyed playing with their new water wall today. They had fun exploring the different routes the water takes and using different size containers and funnels to discover the effects they produce.
  • Year 4 - Dream Catchers

Mon 27 Jan 2020 Miss McManus
This afternoon, we have been busy preparing our base for our dream catcher. We have used paint to create a pattern on the rim ready for Thursday when we start the fiddly job of threading, braiding and beading.  We can’t wait for the end result!
  • The Green Warriors! - The Eco council.

Mon 27 Jan 2020 The Green Warriors.

The Green Warriors met today to discuss how we are getting on with composting and litter picking and any problems/improvements to be made. We then wrote letters to local garden centres, asking for a donation of tools, seeds and compost to help us in developing a school vegetable patch. The Green Warriors from Reception and Year 1 made posters for the compost bins around school.

If any you have any unwanted seeds or garden tools at home, the Eco Council would be more than happy to put these to good use.

  • Arrays - an introduction to multiplication

Mon 27 Jan 2020 The Year 1 team
Before children are introduced to the ‘X’ symbol they are taught how to find totals using arrays. We have been learning about groups, rows and repeated addition to find a total. This unit of work has also helped us practise counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
  • Golden Mile

    Mon 27 Jan 2020
The golden mile is proving as popular as ever with the children really enjoying their running on a Thursday and Friday lunchtime. It’s been great to see so many of the children taking part with lots of them achieving their 10 and 25 mile certificates. Whether the children are doing it to keep fit, keep warm or just for fun with their friends a big well done from Mr Watson and his helpers. Keep it up!
