  • Year 5 - What is Peer Pressure?

    Mon 30 Oct 2023 E. Long

Last week, Year 5 came together for an assembly to discuss what peer pressure was and what they should do if they ever found themselves in a situation they felt uncomfortable in. Now that they are getting older and more independent, it is important that they know how to handle these situations that they may face.

The children were very receptive and knew the importance of right and wrong and understood that they will all face these at some point in their lives, but how they need to keep to their own moral compass and do what they know to be right.

There was great problem solving, communication and independence in building their toys.

  • Year 6 Woods - Den Building!

    Tue 17 Oct 2023 E. Long

Last week, Year 6 went down to the woods with Mr Watson and tackled a den building challenge. This task required each group to build a den using a set of resources along with anything else that they could find in the natural environment around them. We saw some brilliant collaboration and some amazing den structures. However, some were better than others when it came to testing their ability to keep everyone inside dry..!

What a great morning and a deserved treat after a week of working hard on our big writes!

  • Year 5 - Willow Class - Learning Look Back

    Wed 11 Oct 2023 E. Long

This week, Willow Class have been going back and seeing what they remembered of our Design Technology sequence so far.  The children worked in pairs to question and respond to one another in detail and were able to explain how a cam mechanism worked as well as what happens in each aspect of the design cycle.  They made links and between previous DT learning in Year 4 and understand how it has developed in Year 5.

Great maturity was shown and many were eloquent in their explanations.

  • Year 1 Hello Yellow

    Wed 11 Oct 2023 E. Long

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed themselves on Hello Yellow Day learning how important it is to keep our brains healthy as well as our bodies. We read the story Ruby’s Worry and spoke about how talking about our worries can help us to feel better. We also learnt some different breathing exercises to help us when we are feeling worried, sad or cross. We also practised different activities that can help to calm us such as yoga and mindfulness colouring.
