  • Watch out for our Easter home learning challenges

    Thu 26 Mar 2020

    Hi all,

We hope you are all staying safe and at least getting some chance to welcome the spring sunshine by means of a garden or an open window or two!

We would normally set pupils home learning challenges over the Easter holidays and this year will be no different. By Monday 30th March, all year groups' teachers will have uploaded to their class information pages on the website a broad choice of more creative and craft based activities to explore over the Easter holidays - not forgetting that all important daily reading!

Please feel free generally to look at other year groups home learning challenges too or for siblings to be working on challenges together. As much learning as possible is welcomed!

In these unusual times, it is also important to keep connected and celebrate the great work produced and effort pupils show. Therefore, we would like you to feel free to share examples of children's home learning (art, poems, craft, maths - even pupils deep in concentration on a task) and teachers will celebrate this effort by posting a selection to our website and facebook page.

Please send any pictures titled clearly as 'HOME LEARNING PHOTO + Class teacher's name' to admin@honiton-pri.devon.sch.uk

By sending in the photos you are giving your consent for a photo to be published.

    Thank you everyone,

    Mr Hasler

  • Class 4AP - A fond farewell from Mrs Piggott

    Tue 24 Mar 2020 Year 4

    Good morning to Class 4AP,

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all the children and families in 4AP the very best. Sorry I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to you all. It was very sad to be told I needed to go home suddenly on Wednesday in order to keep myself safe and I felt very torn. As a teacher, I felt the strong desire to stay in school and help the children and staff prepare for the closure but I needed to be sensible and heed the medical advice. Leaving without saying goodbye was incredibly hard. HPS has been my second family for the last five years and I will miss everyone dreadfully. I am hoping to come back once everything has settled down to say a proper goodbye but for now, please stay safe and healthy. Children - enjoy the time at home with your families, be kind to each other and look after yourselves.

You are all in my thoughts and I wish you all the very best for your futures.

    Mrs Piggott

  • Year 4 - Roman Roads (Edible form!)

Thu 19 Mar 2020 Miss McManus

Despite all the changes and uncertainty in the world, Year 4 had a blast learning about how important Roman roads were and how some are still present today. We learnt about the different layers within the road, whilst also learning the purpose of the materials and the camber used.

To to make it a lot more interesting, we went on to make it out of things we could eat!  Crushed up biscuits formed the foundations and represented the sand, Shreddies and custard formed the boulders and cement, smarties formed the slate layer and it was all topped off with a custard cream to represent the paving slabs!

This was certainly enjoyed by each pupil as you can see from the photos!
