  • ‘Peppa Pig would like this’!

Thu 26 Sep 2019 The Year 1 Team
And so went up a call as we visited the woods after a couple of days of rain. Some people just see mud and mess but not Year 1! We worked as a team to get in and out of the net swing, we explored sorting leaves into groups, the science of water and flow by digging out rivers, the language of capacity when making chocolate soup, the language of height when climbing in and out of the tyres and the science of floating and sinking when we put our bark-boats in the water. We also extended our vocabulary when we used the the words, gloopy, sloppy and stodgy to describe Peppa’s muddy puddle. You really can not beat outdoor learning.
  • Year 6: the Battle of the Atlantic!

    Wed 25 Sep 2019

World War II has just broken out. Adolf Hitler is trying to choke the food supply into Britain. His U-boats (untersee boats) are hunting Allied convoys travelling across the Atlantic Ocean which travel as a group trying to protect themselves. The German submarine commanders used periscopes to redirect light from above the surface down to the submarine to spot where the Allied ships were. We explored this combination of science and history with the help of some parent visitors as we made periscopes of our own.

  • Nursery - water play!

The bad weather doesn't stop the Nursery children ...there's just more fun to be had outside with puddles, spraying water with the water pump (notice the little girl has goggles on - her idea to stop the water getting in her eyes!) and exploring how balls float and move in the water! Wonderful 😊
  • Our super senses!

Tue 24 Sep 2019 The Year 1 Team
In SOLE-Science today we learnt about our senses. Did you know that we have five senses that allow us to interpret the world around us. Maybe you could ask your child to name them for you! Also, have a think about when you use your senses in your own lives.
