It's Friday so we celebrate our super star learners of the week and golden ticket winners who get to go on the climbing frame on a Friday lunch time by displaying our growth guide values!

 

Well done to this weeks winners! ☺️

This afternoon, year 3 showed off their amazing eyesight (compared to us adults) and discovered how to crimp beads when making jewellery. Although it was fiddly and at times things went a little wrong, they all managed to crimp beads to hold their wire and create a beautiful, beaded bracelet! They showed great collaborative skills as well as perseverance because, as you can imagine, multiple bracelets were dropped on the floor and need to be re-started!

Last week the children made their own sandwiches, spreading the butter and jam and then wrapping them up, and took them to the woods for a picnic! Roll on summer 🌞

We love painting every day in Nursery, but our easel does get very painty!  This week the children helped Mrs G to wash away the stuck on paint, it was hard work but they worked as a team to make it sparkling clean! 

We had a technology afternoon today! The children learnt how to search for a webpage on a browser, select a game and play it. We also played games on the interactive whiteboard and learnt how to use Beebots. All the children were brilliant at showing respect for the devices, helping each other if they got stuck and sharing with their friends. They could talk about which games they liked playing and when they wanted to do something different. 

Every week in Reception we focus on a key maths skill. This week we have worked with, subtraction! We began the week by preparing our own resource bags! In our lessons we practised using our ten frames to help us with the concept of ‘taking away from ten’ and then counting what was left.

This afternoon, year 3 created art work by foil embossing. They used different tools and were creative with their problem solving to figure out what was most effective. They made some amazing images and most importantly, had lots of fun! 

In today’s woods lesson, the children in Year 1 used their collaboration skills to make a tally of all the superheroes which had been pinned around the area. The children worked fantastically within their teams to complete the activity.

As mentioned previously, we are coming to the end of our current SOLE books so need to start thinking about decorations for our next book. As you know, we want each child to personalise their SOLE book covers. 

 

Please could you start collecting together items which represent your child’s individuality and interests:

 

-Photographs of family and friends

-Flat stickers

-Printed pictures of interests & hobbies

-Wrapping paper to cover the book

 

Please could this be in school by Wednesday 21st April at the latest.
