  • Maths challenge time!

Mon 30 Sep 2019 The Year 1 Team
Our children in Year 1 love a challenge. After looking at ordinal numbers we asked them to show the results of the ‘Great Toy-Tray Marathon’ that is only held once every ten years! The only instruction was that you had to show what position each character finished. Lots of practical, hands-on, collaborative learning.
  • Heavy and light

    Mon 30 Sep 2019 Reception
Reception have started their new book and topic today, Dear Zoo. We have been thinking about the items that the Post Man might deliver and whether it is light or heavy. We learnt that just because something is big, does not always mean it is heavy.
  • Nursery - Exploring loose parts

    Mon 30 Sep 2019
Our tuff spot before, during and after play! Look at all the different ways the children used the natural resources (lots of circles) - they balanced them, sorted them, spun them, counted them, and collected them. It is amazing what can be done with some curtain rings, log off-cuts, tapestry rings and a mug tree!

  • Year 6. PE

    Fri 27 Sep 2019
Year 6 braved the weather this afternoon to practice their tag rugby skills. We looked at the rules of the game and put them into small sided game related activities. It was evident we have some excellent defenders and even better to see improvement in so many of the  children's attacking play.
  • Building towers and photographs!

    Thu 26 Sep 2019

Today the nursery children had their first school photos taken. What superstars they were! They listened, stood and smiled away as their photo was taken, what perfect models!

The children have been building towers outside with blocks, when the towers fell they re-built, and kept trying. The towers got so high the children had to stand on tip toes and reach up as high as they could to put the last few blocks on top of the tower.

The children have also been busy in their outside 'cafe' making coffee and serving up lavender pie! Another wonderful day learning through play.

  • Year 4 - Mental Health Awareness, Circle Time

Thu 26 Sep 2019 Miss McManus

This afternoon, we spent some time together sharing our thoughts and feelings in our ‘safe space’ circle.  Our focus was on worries and anxieties that we may have and any strategies we could use to help us when we needed to.  We spoke about the importance of both a healthy body and healthy mind.

We we created our class’ ‘Worries Potion’ by writing down a worry we had and putting it in a jar.  This then had the lid put on tight so they couldn’t then bother us.  After, we came up with different ideas and strategies we could use to help each other when we were feeling low - this was our ‘Worry Remedy’.

I was was blown away by the maturity within the room and by how many strategies that knew and had they could share. It was a great afternoon and everyone learnt so much.  We are now going to keep our ‘remedy potion’ in the class for those moments they are needed.
