  • Alan Sugar watch out!

    Thu 30 Apr 2020

Real life maths - and a lot of it - was needed for one of this week's Year 5 'Scream Machine' home learning challenges.

After finding out that it would cost over a million pounds to actually make a rollercoaster, and taking in to account the daily running costs, this young man decided to investigate how much money he would have to earn every day in order to make his money back!

A brilliant scheme and we think we would like to hire you as our business manager!

    Well done 👏🏻

  • Collaboration is the key

    Thu 30 Apr 2020

It has been lovely to see how supportive our families are and how wonderful to see our older Year 5 learners explain, model and collaborate with their younger siblings.

As well as completing his own challenges, this 'teacher' has helped his sister and here you can see the hard work that has gone on together ... and with plenty of smiles too! 😊

    Fantastic collaboration! 👍🏻

  • Will this rollercoaster work?

    Thu 30 Apr 2020

Our new topic 'Scream Machine' has already captured the interest and imagination of Year 5.

How would you design and make a roller-coaster out of recycling? 🤔

Head over to the Video Resource Centre, under the Teaching and Learning tab to find Year 5 ... and here you will find the moment one ride is put to the test! What a lot of fun!

Listen out for the reaction at the end!   😄

    Thu 30 Apr 2020 Reception

Here are some more photos of the fantastic learning from our Reception children that have taken place over the last couple of weeks.

Based on last week's book, The Magic Paintbrush, we have a beautifully made Chinese lantern, paintings of cherry blossom inspired by Chinese paintings, and a creation of the Great Wall of China!

Lots of our families have been brightening people's day by creating rainbows to show our appreciation towards our healthcare staff. Can you believe that this amazing rainbow is made from LEGO!

  • What's inside?

Thu 30 Apr 2020 Miss McManus

Look at this phenomenal life-size illustration of the digestive system!  I cannot believe how much time and effort has gone into creating this fantastic piece of learning.  They have really have captured the shadings and shapes of the different human organs!

On top of creating this though, they have been teaching Muay Thai Boxing to children aged 3-6 years old via live streaming and video!  This is fantastic and unbelievable that he is already coaching others!

Keep up the amazing learning and enjoy your new microscope!

  • Year 4 - Sending Hope!

Thu 30 Apr 2020 Miss McManus

Some children in Year 4 have been busy writing lovely letters of hope and encouragement to residents of care homes that have been isolating for over 8 weeks.  It really warms my heart to see that pupils of HPS really care about the community and those who could be feeling a little lonely during this time.

One boy's younger sister joined in with creating a lovely painting for them to put up on the wall whilst another child in Year 4 sent letters to people from their congregation telling them what she had been getting up to with her family.  She also referred to her bible and gave encouraging quotes of reassurance knowing that it would comfort them.

It is so lovely to see the compassion shown.  I am one proud teacher!

  • Collage City in Year 3!

    Thu 30 Apr 2020
Wow! I absolutely love this young lady's collage of her own city skyline. She's used lots of different shapes and patterns to create the buildings with added details. A super, vibrant piece of art!
