We enjoyed our first ever Pancake Club today, celebrating the achievements of a select group of children across the school for showing positive learning behaviours and our school values. 

We loved the chance to learn about fire safety, making and eating pancakes over the firepit. 

Well done again to those children for their hard work!

On Wednesday, Year 5 had an amazing time down in the woods for our usual PE session! We did a trust exercise which involved being partnered up and one of the partners being blindfolded. The other partner then had to guide them through the woods using a specific route that they had memorised from a map. We learnt lots about communication and collaboration! 

Year 4 have enjoyed working hard on their writerly skills, drafting an exciting Paddington adventure story this week. Look at that concentration!

Year 4 were invited to Honiton Community College to take part in a dance festival. They had a fantastic morning, learning a new dance performance. We listened and watched carefully and tried our best to learn new dance techniques. Year 4 did HPS proud with their fantastic behaviour and effort. Well done Year 4 :) 

Year 2 have been learning about what we need to grow and stay healthy. We have looked at what things contribute to good health such as getting enough sleep, exercising, brushing our teeth and eating healthy foods. We then go to select our own healthy foods and make a fruit kebab. We learnt good hygiene and safety when preparing food and even cut and peeled our own fruit!

Head over to the video resource centre and look under “Music” to find Year 2’s brilliant Minibeast songs! We learned the song and then added instruments for each Minibeast mentioned. Great collaboration and perseverance Year 2! 

Last week, in computing, we learnt about peer surveys. We used our knowledge to make our own surveys about different themes on Google Forms.

This morning, Year 4 went to the woods with Mr Watson. They were blindfolded and had to follow a route with a small group. The children used collaboration to work with a team to guide themselves through the woods - using touch, communication and empathy and listening. Well done Year 4 - what a fun morning! :)

In our English sequences we have been focusing on instruction writing. For our elicitation task we made jam sandwiches and for our Big Write we created either a fruit salad or a fruit kebab. We used imperative verbs, time adverbs & rich language to keep our steps clear and appealing for the audience. We definitely enjoyed the tasting part!
