  • Year 6: Online safety and communcation

    Wed 31 Mar 2021

After Easter, in the first half term of summer, across the school, year groups will be undertaking learning about online safety.

Ahead of this, Year 6 were visited today by our Police Community Support Officer who spoke about his role in helping the community but also the importance of respectful communication on mobile phones and online. Our children know the high standards we hold for them in school. With the support and watchful eye of parents, this respectful communication on mobile phones, games and social media should continue in their lives outside the school gates. Thank you PCSO Richard Shelton.

  • Nursery explore Easter!

    Wed 31 Mar 2021
We have learnt a little about Easter this week. We watched a little boy celebrate Easter on CBeebies, made and ate hot cross buns (they were yummy, and so easy to make in out bread machine!), and made our own patterns on egg shaped paper.
  • The foundations of self-organised learning (SOLE)

Wed 31 Mar 2021 The Reception Team
Many of you, who have children at HPS, will be familiar with the SOLE curriculum. As with all things, the journey has to begin somewhere and at our school everything begins in the EYFS! Throughout Nursery and Reception we are always teaching the basic artistic and creative skills that the children will master as they grow. Today, in Reception, we focused on: cutting, mosaic and pattern when designing and making our own Easter eggs. Once we have learnt the skills we then enjoy developing them in our own play using our own ideas ❤️
  • Year 6 collaboration challenge

    Mon 29 Mar 2021

Our new GROWTH GUIDE focus in Year 6 is collaboration.

    - How do we make sure we are contributing?

    - Can we solve problems together?

    - Can I offer and receive advice?

    - Am I able to show empathy?

    - Can I trust and be trusted by my classmates?

These were all put to the test this afternoon in our collaboration challenge where teams of pupils had to act as the guided, navigators or the supporting hands to guide their classmates around our Woods obstacles.

  • The rain won't stop Nursery play! ☔️

    Sun 28 Mar 2021
Despite a huge downpour of rain on Friday that didn't stop the Nursery children putting on their coats and welly boots and getting outside to play. The children splashed in puddles, played in the rain water and of course explored the climbing frame. All in the name of play!
  • The power of Storytelling

Sat 27 Mar 2021 The Reception Team
We love stories and reading in the EYFS. This week, we explored the wonderful BAME text of Nimesh the Adventurer by Ranjit Singh. Not only is Ranjit’s tale a wonderful ride of adventure and imagination, it is also the gateway into Indian culture and tradition. Linked to our theme of respect and friendship towards all humans we had an amazing week in these sessions. All of the staff commented on how interested the children were to find out about a different culture.
