🏃‍♀️ Year 5 & 6 Quad Kids Athletics 🏃‍♂️

Quad: four events, in groups of four: this meant that every HPS athlete was challenged to earn their team as many points as possible at the HLC inter-school quad kids athletics competition in the 4 track and field events.

Quick times were recorded in the 75m sprints, faces tightened and grimaced during the 600m endurance race, huge throws were made in the howler field event and superb individual performances were seen at the sandpit for the standing long jump.

Everyone should be feeling hugely proud of themselves with their efforts today! Well done! 🙂

Elm class - Year 2

Last week we enjoyed some time in the sunshine, taking part in some sport’s day practice. We practised our agility skills with running and jumping as well as throwing.

What a fantastic afternoon yesterday of athletics for our year 3 & 4 competitors who had qualified for the East Devon Schools Finals! The Games Values of ‘self-belief’ and ‘teamwork’ were on show in abundance from our talented squad of athletes: determination, passion and spirit led to some high scoring throws, jumps and runs! Very impressive performances from all - congratulations everyone! 🙂

Yr2 Dental Visitors 9.5.23

Last Tuesday Year 2 were visited by Dentist Dr Smitha Walsh and Dental Nurse Tara. We found out about different aspects of oral health: mixed dentition, healthy/damaging food for our teeth, decay & cavities, the art of brushing teeth and what happens when you visit the dentist. Dr Walsh also shared what technology is used in dentistry and the skills you need to become a dentist. The visit enhanced our learning in Science and PSHE. Thank you to Bupa Dental Care for the workbooks and toothbrushes we took home.

Yr2 Library Visit 24.4.23

How time flies when you are reading a book!

At the end of April Birch and Elm class walked over to Honiton Public Library. We were welcomed by Linda (Honiton Library Supervisor) and spent an hour listening to newly published books, playing a game of Library Bingo and exploring both the childrens’ library and the wider library. Thank you to Mrs Buss and Mrs Nicholas for taking time out of their day to join us.
