  • Reception Trip to the Thelma Hulbert Gallery 🎨🌿

    Sat 11 May 2024

Some of our Reception children took a trip to the Thelma Hulbert Gallery yesterday. We worked with Nic George, a local artist. The children explored the gallery and then created their own beautiful works of art using pastels and chalk. Super collaboration guys! ✨

  • Year 5 and Year 3 - Super Readers!

Year 5 and Year 3 - Super Readers!

Some people just love to read, and these 6 children certainly do!  Not only did some receive their half a million word badge on Friday, but our Year 5’s (in the picture) also collected their million word badge too!

All of these children have read over half a million words which is no mean feat and definitely something to be proud of!

Our Year 3’s are hot on the tail of these Year 5’s and it won’t be long before they reach their million word achievement too!

Our back row children have read 1,062,891 words, 1,074,618 and 1,009,926 respectively which is impressive!

Keep up the reading because it really is the key to life!

  • Year 5 - Willow Class - It’s Big Write Time!

Year 5 - Willow Class - It’s Big Write Time!

This week, Willow Class are embarking on their next Big Write.  Their mission is to write their own narrative with a strong focus on a setting description.  This has been inspired by the text: The Viewer, by Shaun Tan.

Look at how focused they are, and how independently they have got the resources they require to be successful.  What great learning behaviours shown where they are truly embodying that Self Organised Learning Environement (SOLE).

They have been working really hard over the last couple of weeks to learn how to use commas correctly for a whole host of reasons to include to mark clause boundaries, after fronted adverbials as well as for clarity.  They have also developed their abilities to include rich sensory descriptions and adjectives to create an image and feeling for the reader.

I cannot wait to see what they come up with!!
