  • Year 3 PE

    Tue 29 Oct 2019

A new term and a new sport! Year 3 were the first to play Rocketball or Lacrosse as its sometimes called. Both classes looked at how to correctly pick the ball up from the floor as well as practicing throwing, rolling and catching the ball in pairs and individually. A big hit with all the children.

  • Year 5/6 PE

    Tue 29 Oct 2019
Before breaking up for half term it was tag rugby game week and an opportunity for the children to put the skills learnt into practice. Sadly it rained heavily for the year 6 session so we’re restricted to some indoor PE, hopefully we can find time to do it again. Year 5 had fun in their session showing great understanding of the game with some brilliant defending with lots of tags being taken as well as some excellent passing, teamwork and attacking play. Well done both year groups.
  • Powderham Castle antics!

    Tue 29 Oct 2019 R.Reid

Today Year 2 were lucky enough to kick start our new learning about "Towers, Tunnels and Turrets" with a fantastic visit to Powderham Castle in Exteter.

The children (and adults!) had a brilliant time touring the castle and learning all about the Earl of Devon and the family history. We walked through each room in the castle, taking note of all the paintings, furniture, stair cases and lights. The rooms had "secret doors" which the children were keen to spot. Some were so cleverly disguised that we struggled to find them!

We took in the view of the back of the castle, some parts being over 400 years old. The deer park was beautiful too. The guides commented on what super questioning skills the children had; some stumped the guides as they did not know all the answers!

The children really shone today and showcased their enquiring minds. Well done to all.

Thank you also to the adults who supported our children today.

  • Year 2’s Towers, Tunnels and Turrets Introduction!

    Tue 29 Oct 2019
Today we have been to Powerdham Castle exploring its towers, tunnels and turrets! We enjoyed listening to our tour guide as she took us around the enchanting castle. We learnt lots of interesting facts! Did you know.... the seventeenth Earl of Devon is currently residing in the castle. After our tour, we used the castle maps to locate ourselves around the grounds. We also found spots to sit around the castle to draw detailed sketches. What a fantastic day we had and what a fantastic way to start our new topic!
