  • Peer to peer support

Sat 15 Feb 2020 The Year 1 Team
Young children need grown-ups to care, guide and support them. However, there are times when older children make much better mentors and teachers. Today we had the privilege of inviting Year 5 to come down and help us learn more about ‘journaling’ our SOLE books. This is a key skill that the children will use throughout their HPS journey.
  • Year 3 - Pop Art

    Fri 14 Feb 2020
In Year 3 this week we have explored the artist, Andy Warhol. He used vibrant, bold colours to create artwork and portraits. We hadn’t a go at using carbon paper to trace over our own faces, then shaded them in a similar style. Don’t they look great?

  • Year 6: RAMM trip

    Fri 14 Feb 2020
Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic day at the RAMM museum. After enjoying a train journey into Exeter Central, the children showed their wonderful enthusiasm as they moved around the museum working on their research challenges linked to our Frozen Kingdoms top and animal adaptations.
  • Reception- wood trip rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

    Thu 13 Feb 2020 Reception

We have rescheduled the wood trip to tomorrow morning due to the pouring rain that we experienced today. It is forecast for a dry night and morning, so fingers crossed that the woods will have had a chance to dry out a little!

Miss Wilton has your children's forest kits at school, so she will get them changed. But please could Miss Haley's class come into school tomorrow morning wearing their forest kits and with their school uniform in a bag.

    Many thanks for your flexibility!

  • Reception- Family Story Time!

    Thu 13 Feb 2020 Reception

Reception are welcoming our families to come and join us for story time at the end of the day on Mondays. This will run at 2.45-3pm each week and we will alternate the session so that the teachers get a chance to read to everyone, and the other for you to share a story with your child.

This is due to start on the first Monday after we return from the half term break.

  • Year 4 - Making Moccasins

Thu 13 Feb 2020 Miss McManus

As part of our SOLE topic, ‘Road Trip USA!’ We have been working on a design and technology project based upon Native American footwear. We started by researching what they are, followed this by designing and today.....we started the making!

As you can imagine, 1 teacher and 30 children was manic, but the sheer pleasure, enthusiasm, joy and most importantly, resilience shone through. I have been incredibly impressed by their growth mindset attitude towards this task.

Tomorrow, we continue in the hope of completing at least 1 moccasin before we break up for half term.

  • Nursery- splash, splash, splash!

    Thu 13 Feb 2020

What a busy day we have had in nursery today! The children made the most of some very deep puddles and had a great time splashing around watching the water fly around. We had some very soggy and squelchy welly boots and socks after but lots of fun was had!

Then it was time for our second session of PE this week. The children played stop start games and hoop games today. Again they had to listen carefully to Mr Watson's instructions and move and manipulate their bodies into different shapes. As you can see from the photos they did a great job. Well done Nursery.

  • Nursery - busy working together to create ...

    Wed 12 Feb 2020
We love it in Nursery when children take ownership of their learning and environment. Today I set up a simple balance area for the children. However this obviously wasn't good enough for them, and they set off to work as a team to make it bigger and better! Eventually the balance area turned into a road way for the toy cars and then became part of water exploration with guttering pipes. Amazing!
