Year 2 - Birch Class Ahoy!
Wed 16 Feb 2022Birch Class had fun climbing the riggings, scrubbing the decks and finding land from their pirate ship this morning. They created seascape artwork, wrote letters to send in bottles to be rescued, learnt a sea shanty and took part in a range of activities this afternoon.
This afternoon, they followed a map around the school and took part in a variety of activities. They created a soundscape of being out at sea using their voice, body and instruments, read pirate stories, built shelters in case they were stranded on an island, sorted materials washed up on shore and tried a range of exotic fruit to ensure they didn’t get scurvy!
We ended the day eating treasure that was found!
It was an awesome day full of fun and excitement!

Year 5 - British Values Gallery Exhibition
Wed 16 Feb 2022Some of the children in Year 5 have been working with a researcher from Exeter University for the last few months on a British Values project. The children developed the project and carried out all of the research themselves. As part of their work, the children chose to take photographs of things they felt represented our British Values.
Then, after two workshops, the children’s work was curated (by them!) and presented at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery in an exclusive opening last night!
The exhibition will be on display up until Easter so be sure to check it out!

Year 2 - It’s a Slimy Business!!
Mon 14 Feb 2022As part of our English sequence, we have been exploring instructions. This week we will be writing our own on how to make slime....cue making slime to help us!
The room got very messy, lots of smiles were seen all around and a lot of hints and tips were batted around when the mixture was too runny or too stiff.
Tomorrow we we embark on our next batch of slime and hope that it is just as enjoyable, but maybe a little less messy 😂
