Year 1: This week and next!
Fri 23 Sep 2022An amazing week in year 1! We have been exploring numbers and matching numbers and their words together. In science we have been looking at the parts of a tree and identifying the 6 areas! In English we have been reading the story of the 3 little pigs and writing some sentences to go with parts of the story. Next week we will be writing up part of the story for our Big Write! Please have a look on the year 1 class page to see the timetable for next week.

Year 2 - Developing Our Writing
Fri 23 Sep 2022Today, Birch Class took a ‘boring sentence’ and developed and improved it together as a class. The children discussed where the words should go, what punctuation was needed whilst coming up with a fab sentence collectively!
They then went to their table, inspired to writing interesting sentences full of detail.
Here’s some pictures of our class ‘living sentence’ using colourful semantics to help us.

Year 1/2 Celebration Assembly!
Fri 23 Sep 2022Today, Year 1 and 2 came together in the hall to celebrate the learning that had taken place this week. Two children received our lovely new certificates linked to our Vision Circle and Growth Guide. Well done to those individuals!
We also celebrated the class with the most children who read 5 times in a week. The winning class was Mr Evan’s, so next Friday they get the extra play on the climbing frame!
Who will win the awards next week? You have to be in it to win it so make sure you get those 5 reads in!!!!

Year 5 Science
Fri 23 Sep 2022Following on from our science lesson yesterday, we learnt about a new force called air resistance. We tested the effect of it on different sized parachutes being dropped from the same height. We predicted that the smallest parachute would fall quickest because it had less air resistance and we were right!

Year 5/6 Printmaking 🌿
Thu 22 Sep 2022Some of our Year 5 and 6 children spent the day at Honiton Library with the Double Elephant print workshop. We first used leaves and other interesting materials like bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard and netting to create a composition to print with. In the afternoon, the children created collagraph prints using cardboard to create different images of their choice. We all had a brilliant day and were so pleased with our final prints!

World Ready!
Thu 22 Sep 2022Before you explore what being a World Ready Person really means for you, you have to understand about the world, planet earth and where we all fit into the bigger picture! Reception used Google Earth to explore these questions and brainstorm what we already understand about planet earth and what it means to be, 'world ready'.
