Exeter Cathedral and St Nicholas Priory Trip

Further photos to enjoy from Year 5’s trip into Exeter to visit Exeter Cathedral and St Nicholas Priory linked to their Torturous Tudors project.

At St Nicholas Priory, pupils explored what life was like in a Tudor home (once a Priory) and learnt about Tudor games, bathing habits and what they ate!

At the Cathedral, we learnt about the story of the Cathedral from once being Roman Catholic and governed by the Pope to its life after the Reformation when King Henry VIII created the Church of England.

A wonderful day was enjoyed exploring some world class buildings telling the fascinating story of British history in our local region.

Year 6 Youth Speaks - Double Success for HPS teams

Should children be allowed to vote and take part in democracy?

Should alcohol be banned for the greater good of society?

These were the topics of two superbly delivered team speeches featuring 6 of our pupils from Year 6.

The pupils put huge amounts of research and rehearsal into their performances and to our delight the judges placed our Honiton teams in 1st and 2nd place in a field of 11 teams from 7 schools.

    A wonderful but well-deserved achievement.

Year 5 - Editing and Improving

After finishing their Big Writes, Willow Class worked collaboratively to go through and edit and improve their writing.  They checked their spellings, punctuation and ensured that they had used the correct verb tense throughout.  They also considered how they could include more of the skills that they had learnt such as adverbials, parenthesis and dialogue punctuated correctly.  They all enjoyed reading each other’s stories and showed great maturity and flexibility when needing to edit.

    Well done Willow Class.
